Skirting is the process of putting a wooden skirting board panel is put around the base of interior wall. The purpose of the skirting board is to cover the joint between the wall surface and floor. The second purpose they serve is to protect the wall if it is hit by a vacuum cleaner or broom. Here are some tips on how to start skirting.
Use a tape to figure out what length of board you will need. Add 20% for contingency.
Mark the skirting
Clearly put markings on your board the measurements and imagine how to will look on the wall to mark it appropriately. This is especially useful when you will be matching the diagonal cuts.
Start the cutting
Next, start out with cutting out the straight cuts. Straight cuts mean cutting out the square-edged parts since they will not be difficult. The reason for this is that you do not have to worry about matching up the diagonal cuts.
Attaching the board
Instant-grab adhesive is the most commonly used way to fix the walls around the house. You may you that too. After applying it to the back, immediately put the board onto the wall.
To put up the next piece you will need to start by making it hollow. So, cut for a 45-degree angle at the end of the new piece of the board using a minter saw. Then cut the waste part using a copy saw.
Check and adjust
Check your board by placing it next to the one you already have installed on the wall. If you are happy with it then cut the other side and install it to the wall. Complete the rest of the bases. And you’re done!
